FAQ

School Life

  • The Rosedale Day School was founded in 1995 by Mrs. Sharon Stewart.

  • Our Crest & Motto

Founder Sharon Stewart selected the Gryphon as part of the school’s logo because of the Gryphon’s caring and protective nature. The logo was designed by the parents of two original RDS students in 1995.

The Latin motto of “Quisque infans singularis est” meaning “Every Child is Unique” was chosen on the premise that educators strategically nurture and develop the uniqueness of every student.

Admissions

  • RDS students attend a wide range of schools after grade eight. Most students are interested in attending one of the leading independent CAIS schools in the city. Recent grads have successfully gained admissions into Upper Canada College, Royal St. George’s, Branksome Hall, St. Clement’s School, Bishop Strachan School, Havergal College, Greenwood College and the York School.

Many of our students have also been granted into specialized TDSB schools such as Ursula Franklin, Etobicoke School of the Arts, Tops on Bloor.

  • Interested families are encouraged to apply in the fall and submit all required information. Applicants who have met The Rosedale Day School’s admission requirements will be invited to experience The Rosedale Day School during an Activity Morning or Visit Day to properly determine if that child will be successful at RDS. An offer of admissions is given out to successful candidates in January and February. Should any openings remain we will look to fill any openings on an ongoing basis.

  • There are no additional application requirements for international students. International families are encouraged to visit the Canadian government’s Study In Canada website for all relevant visa information.

The application for financial assistance is separate from the admissions application and must be completed on the Apple Financial Services website.
